Maria Serra
PERSONAL MISSION STATEMENT: To encourage, teach, and help restore communication and peace in family relationships. I was born in Cuba in 1960 and came to the United States in 1965. My parents fled to this country in fear of communism in our country. We lived in New Jersey for 3 years before coming to Miami in 1968. I graduated from Hialeah High School and attended Miami Dade College for Travel & Tourism. I worked in the travel industry for 22 years and experienced many different countries and cultures. In 2003, I took another career path and graduated from Barry University with a Master Degree in Marriage & Family Therapy. This began my career at the Institute for Child & Family Health. In 2009, I passed the Florida State Board Exam to become a Licensed Therapist. Currently, I continue to work with children whom have emotional and/or psychological disorders and their families. This has been one of the most precious blessings from God. As an immigrant with very humble beginnings and limited financial resources, I hope my testimony encourages all young people that Anything is Possible with God. |
